Congratulations to the SHHS Volleyball Team on qualifying for the IGHSAU 2A State Volleyball Tournament in Coralville/ Iowa City next week.
As a school district, we had already planned to take off Monday, November 4th for a Staff Professional Development Day & we will keep that as a No School Day for Professional Development. We already have trainers hired, and some required training needs to be done that day.
We have decided to have No School on Tuesday, November 5th for State Volleyball and hope everyone will make the trip, enjoy the Fall Break, & come Cheer on the Tigers. The logistics of late afternoon games at state tournament venues between 2.5 and 3 hours away depending on where you live in our districts is quite complex. Food Services, Transportation, and the requests for substitutes all become very challenging if not impossible on these days. These are the reasons we have decided to cancel school instead of coming to school in the morning on Tuesday.
Families would also be advised to have contingency plans for their children on Wednesday, November 6th, and Thursday, November 7th as well. If the SHHS Volleyball team continues to win, there will be further potential school cancellations or early-outs.
Further information about state volleyball shirts, pep rally, pep bus, ticketing, etc.. will be coming out later today as the final details are being put together. We wanted to let you know about the school cancellation for Tuesday as soon as possible so that you and your family can begin to plan accordingly.
